“In her solo work, Patricia van de Camp investigates the spatial implications of monochrome areas of color.
These areas of color have their origins in the abstraction of feminine forms, but can also break away from it. The monochrome color areas are often in blacks and grays, but occasionally they are made in a pink shade.
This color is not only a clear reference to what is socially seen as the color for femininity, but also to what she herself calls “candy”. Pink can be soft or hard, but it always has the association of sweet.
By hanging the color areas at a distance from the wall and from each other, a unique shadow effect is created in every lighting situation in the room.
In this way, spatiality is created that is larger than the surfaces themselves and will always provide new insights.

“Patricia van de Camp onderzoekt in haar solo werk de ruimtelijke implicaties van monochrome kleurvlakken.
Deze kleurvlakken vinden hun oorsprong in de abstractie van vrouwelijke vormen, maar kunnen zich daar ook los van maken. De monochrome kleurvlakken zijn vaak in zwarten en grijzen, maar zo af en toe worden ze in een roze tint uitgevoerd.
Deze kleur is naast een duidelijke verwijzing naar wat sociaal-maatschappelijk gezien wordt als de kleur voor vrouwelijkheid, ook naar wat zij zelf noemt “snoep”. Roze kan namelijk zacht en hard zijn maar heeft altijd de associatie zoet.
Door de kleurvlakken op te hangen met een afstand tot de muur en tot elkaar, zorgt dat in elke lichtsituatie van de ruimte een unieke schaduwwerking ontstaat.
Zodoende wordt er ruimtelijkheid gecreëerd die groter is dan de vlakken zelf en altijd weer voor nieuwe inzichten zal zorgen.
In de vaak rigoureuze abstractie is de grafische achtergrond van Patricia te zien. De ruimtelijkheid komt voort uit haar denken en werken als kunstenaar.”
